When you bring home a wolfdog puppy it is very IMPORTANT to properly socialize them. Lower percentage wolfdogs can be taken home like a typical dog around 8 weeks, Some might even leave at 6 weeks. Most Middle to higher percentage wolfdogs need to be taken from their mother and bottle fed by humans at ten days of age before their eyes open. The idea is that when the puppy opens their eyes for the first the first thing they see is a human and they imprint strongly. However there have been several breeders who are able to bring the middle-higher percentage mother inside the home for the delivery and raising of the puppies. These breeders were able to allow the mother to nurse her litter like any other dog breed with daily human interaction until they are weaned.
It is very important to get your puppy used to every day life with humans. Because wolfdogs are hard wired a bit differently than typical domestic dog breeds you must work a bit harder to socialize them properly without overwhelming them and doing long term damage to your relationship with the animal. Make sure to get your puppy used to walking on a leash, riding in the car, meeting other dogs, people, children and strange loud noises that they may across during their life( gun shots, sirens, hammering nails).. Take them to pet friendly stores as well.
